BioMass Boilers

Presently available boilers which are as efficient as gasoil or gas. 94% efficiency is obtainable, self-cleaning models and gas analasys for self adjusting fuel/air mixture.

These can be divided into 2 groups:

  • A) Completely automatic including above features.
  • B) Semi-automatic with manual cleaning/firing up.

A boiler unit consists of:

  • 1.- Fuel hopper
  • 2.- Screw-feed mechanism delivering fuel to burn chamber.
  • 3.- Burn chamber.
  • 4.- Heat exchanger.
  • 5.- Electronic management unit.

Is the installation different to gasoil?

Similar. The flue must always be stainless and the expansion tank slightly larger. In some circumstances it is possible to switch back and forth between the 2.

It is cheaper?

Average bio mass prices are between 15-25 cent/kg. The power is above 50% of gasoil. So with a minimum price off 72 cent/ltr. for gas oil a saving of at least 40% is achieved.

Types of BioMass heaters

Room stoves for air:

Room stoves for air and water to supply radiators.

Boilers:

  • 1) Domestic fitted in boiler room.
  • 2) Industrial for hotels, greenhouses, swimming pools.
  • 3) Woodburning fire ranges to heat air/water.

Comparison solar & biomass in cost

Whilst solar panels can provide domestic hot water for most of the year a back-up is required. So the lost of a gas, gasoil or bio-mass boiler must always be taken into account when calculations total costs.
